  • It may take up to 90 days for your dog to become comfortable and engaged in their new environment, so be patient and be sure to give them time to adjust.

  • Feed them ACANA Rescue Care for Adopted Dogs on a schedule that works for both of you; multiple smaller meals are best, especially at first.

  • Switch your dog's food gradually to give your dog time to adjust and reduce the changes of digestive upset. Start by mixing 25% new diet with the 75% old diet, and slowly increase the new diet over the course of 5-7 days until you are feeding 100% new diet.

  • Give them their own private, comfy spot on a dog bed or crate so they can rest and relax.

  • Wait one week before taking them on any outings.

  • Always trust your instincts when caring for your new dog, but don't be afraid to reach out to a trainer or behaviorist if you need help.
